Position Summary

This Mechanical Engineer role supports the Seguin shop support engineering team, primarily focused on sustaining activities and engineering support for the Power Generation (PG) product line. Responsibilities include resolving quality and production issues, supporting New Product Introductions (NPIs), driving improvements, and collaborating with global and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operation and continuous improvement of manufacturing and validation processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for production, validation, and pilot builds.
• Resolve mechanical and electrical shop floor issues through real-time troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with suppliers to validate and integrate alternative parts.
• Implement and manage ICAs, PCAs, CIAs, and other deviation processes to maintain RTS (Ready-To-Ship) schedules.
• Support compliance efforts (UL, CSA, ULC) and audits.
• Use engineering tools to track, evaluate, and solve issues related to DTO and A&I requests.
• Participate in NPI and NSI processes and support on-site rental validation.
• Deliver prompt responses to engineering queries and support new technology and design changes.

Must-Have Technical Skills

• Hands-on troubleshooting in test cells and shop environments.
• Proficiency in Creo, TeamCenter, and Plex.
• Experience using CAT ET diagnostic tools.
• Understanding of mechanical systems related to genset products.
• Familiarity with industry compliance standards: UL, CSA, NFPA, NEC.

Preferred Technical Skills

• Experience in Caterpillar design and processes.
• Prior knowledge of Seguin plant systems and workflow.
• Exposure to engineering deviation management (ICA, PCA, CIA).
• Support for DTOs and rental projects.

Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional and global teams.
• Proactive and self-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5 7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or product support environment.

Alternate Considerations:

• Associate degree with 7+ years of experience.
• Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Relevant internships may be considered depending on nature and depth.
